The Paths of Our Invisible Strings

Madelyn Chromes is uprooted from her tight-knitted home and long term boyfriend into a new life that she quickly sinks into with the help of her new friends. What she isn't in preparation for is the new boy that sweeps her off her feet almost immediately. With strings still tied to her old life, she starts to uncover secrets that aren't as they seem within her new life. Betrayal, jealousies, broken boundaries sting in this odyssey letter from Madelyn to the person who takes her by surprise and completely changes her life. For better and for worse as they say, and from Madelyn's point of view, the story for this person has potential to destroy it all.

Author’s Notes:

Madelyn and I are two completely different people- in most ways. She’s head strong, she is a little bit petty but strong with her words. She's from the west coast which I've learned people are tougher out there and people typically go through the hard parts of life a little faster, so she had to learn quickly how to defend herself and also stick up for herself. I think her friends, too, are bad asses in a way that explains and expresses how Madie reacts to certain points in her adolescent, especially in her love life, and even when she moves to Connecticut. She doesn't take any shit, and if she feels threatened, she defends herself pretty well, while I on the other hand do not, I normally walk away or give in to some things and I don't defend myself very well. She likes to let things go quickly and has the ability to control her emotions, except when it came to Roman, I think that’s an excellent example of the main plot of the story, where it was the end of her and Nate’s relationship and the beginning of her and Roman’s, it kind of threw her off her game, and she didn’t know how to handle it very well which made her lash out with herself and friends. She had this inclusive and dark feeling of betrayal from Nate, and just latched onto another person for help but it didn’t match very well because of a bunch of circumstances that she was surrounded with such as friends, her tennis life, moving, a bunch of change, etc. This was the biggest change of her life and because of such a change, she didn’t know how to handle it right which led to a fall out and I think that was her weakness in the story and why her fallouts really put her on her ass but in the end, she was able to regain herself and find her true self again, with or without Roman or anyone else. I feel like most adolescents, male or female, go through this 180 moment of “what am I really doing with myself?”, “Why did I do stupid mistakes or do that specific thing?”, and its really a great but tough eye opener and mountain to climb over.

Madie is very confident, she has a lot of spark in her, and she is very proud. She isn't necessarily selfish at all and she's willing to give up even something she loves if she knows it's the right thing, like I said before, she knows when to let things go. I think that is what Madie and I kind of share, we do give up things that don't tend to go in our favor even if it hurts us along the way, it’s like the self torture route, but we think it’s better for ourselves in the long run, even though it could also hurt other people along the way and we are blind to it.

Her relationships with Roman and Nate are pretty similar to my past relationships, I can't tell which one, because both Roman and Nate are a mix of "exes" I have so I morphed them together then separated them to give Madie the full experience in a short time span with her relationships too. I didn't want her to be dragged through out years of these relationships I used to have because a) that would be long and b) I don't want her to go through specific things I had to go through because my experiences were over years. Their characters are just a mix of boys I used to be with, just morphed into two main characters.

(Spoiler) Her future is my dream, she has a huge scholarship to Duke, and she ends up going to my dream school (one of them) in the west coast on a full academic ride.
