Madelyn Chromes grew up in sunny city Scottsdale, Arizona. She grew up surrounded by the mountains of Arizona, competing in tennis for state titles and spent summers on horseback at her grandparent’s ranch in Utah. A southwestern girl at heart, her and her friends rarely left their town and found euphoria in their own ways around the sunny city through their own talents and had dreams of attending universities near by together. Her two sisters, one older, Mia and one younger, Ally, were predominate on giving Madie, the teased middle child, a chance at finding herself through the challenges Mia went through and teaching Ally what is good and what is not right.

When her parents made the executive decision to relocate their growing job, as they were both architects, to a larger city and where money flowed easier, the Chromes found themselves across the country, in New Haven, Connecticut in less than a month, just before Madelyn’s senior year of high school.

Sweet, caring but deceived, she finds a new group of friends pretty quicky when her parents set up her with one of their friends’ daughter, Hailey King. While Hailey’s friends summered in the Hamptons and New York, Hailey showed Madie the ropes of her new town.

Struggling with being the new girl in town, she finds herself falling for the head mean girls ex boyfriend- Roman Phillips. She learns that it doesn’t matter who you or where you are from, feelings go both ways and they never fail to either help or destroy someone’s relationships.

Roman spent his entire childhood life on the outskirts of Albany, NY where the trees turned red and yellow in early September, gliding on frozen lakes playing his favorite sport, hockey, and knew the roads of the hills like the back of his hand. He grew up with two older brothers, one 7 years older, Jack and one 3 years older, Ben in a small home before his dad switched professions from a contract lawyer to a law professor at Yale University.

The Phillips family left their comfortable small town outside of Albany to the outskirts of one of the largest cities in the world when Roman was 15 years old, right before his first year of high school. Longing for the mountain sides and the trees he once hid under when playing manhunt with his childhood friends and brothers, Roman did his best adjusting to the new busy city of New Haven. He met his girlfriend, Vivian, in the wintertime of his first high school year in New Haven, at the frozen lake where he played hockey with his new friends on the freshman team.

A friend of a friend, Vivian charmed him from the start and that winter began their on and off three year relationship. He realized his feelings had changed towards Vivian when new girl Madelyn Chromes came as he felt sympathy for her, knowing what it felt like to be the new kid in a large pond full of piranhas. But of course sympathy lasts only but for a minute until the coast clears and everything seems right again after adjustments are made. He had a decision to make when it boiled down to the two women he seemingly had to choose from now.

Hailey King was born with a confident spirit it only seems a few possess in their lifetime. She grew up in the outer boroughs of New York City with her younger sister, Celine, and took the advantage of being so close to the city with her parents visiting al the wonders of the world.

When she was eight, her parents relocated the family a few more miles north, New Haven, Connecticut. She attended the rest of elementary, middle and high school before going back to her stomping grounds for college at NYU. Throughout her childhood, she had always loved the luxury life, even if she really wasn’t in it. Saving up money for designer bags, she was considered the most fashionable person to be around as well as outgoing and popular to her peers she grew up with in New Haven.

Forming alliances with Vivian, they grew their circle with new comers and became a revolving door with people. Her and Vivian put a stop to the door and established a final group of girls where they wouldn’t adventure out to new groups again - until Madelyn came in. Like a lost lamb, Hailey remembered the days taking in lost girls like strays, and making them feel whole until they were ready for something new. But to Hailey, Madelyn didn’t seem like another stray to take in - she felt permanent and true. All is fair in love and war.

Vivian has always been the it girl and star of everything she did. With her parents divorced and both remarried, there was a brief moment where she did not think love existed. But on the cold winter day in New Haven, she met the beautiful brunette boy, Roman, and she thought her mind had changed.

As a single child, she grew up in two homes with her mother in the north side of Connecticut and her father in New Haven. When she finished elementary and middle school in New Haven, she was given a choice to stay or to move in with her mother and attend a private school, a promising one way ticket to any ivy league she wanted to attend. Her gut said to stay, binding her relationships with Hailey and the girls they let in and out of their group, and hoping on a potential promised exciting life in high school. A few months after starting her freshman year and convincing her mother she would spend the first semester of the high school and make her final decision then, she met Roman, who solidified her decision to stay and turn down the offer of a promised future.

A monumental shift changed within her during her years at the high school and it wasn’t only her status with Roman. A new stance of sniffing out any faults of herself and antagonizing them until they became talents or better versions of herself was her forte. She grew faster than anyone and refused to give on or let go of any sort of problem before there was a resolution, if not, there was hell to be raised. Quickly becoming the queen bee, she managed to forfeit a perfect friend group, telling Hailey they shouldn’t let anyone else in or out for their own reputations and futures as trust was altered in her relationship with Roman already.

Smart, stubborn and witty, Vivian toyed with her mentors and when Madelyn came into the picture, there was a sour side she had ignored for a long time and fully emerged when Roman and Madelyn were beginning their own secret relationship. A twist of events can wither any person, whether it be the cruelest of cruel and it becomes the jack of all trades - nothing can take down a mountain already planted in the earth.
